been an avid reader of your column ever since I was in junior high I am now 30 years old The problem: I am in love with a man and the situation is hopeless We are both married ask me how it happened I have been his patient for six years and we became intimate this past sum mer Please suggest I see a psychiatrist because he is one I am emotionally ill and have been unable to work for two years I tried suicide three times in the last 18 months I think about it constantly as the only way to escape the agony I am suffering I went psychiatrist three years ago when I began to suspect I was falling in love with this one but I became worse instead of better I couldn't tell the new psychiatrist what was bothering me for fear of hurting my lover professionally so of course I got nowhere I need to get my life straightened out but how do I do it? 1 am so dependent on this man it seems I live without him Please tell me what to do Dee In Mo Dear A psychiatrist who gets on the couch with a patient is guilty of violating one of the basic principles of professional ethics He should be reported to the American Psychiatric Assn but I'm sure you do it so get down to some practical advice: You will never get your head together so long as you stay in that lousy relationship Your chance for survival get into treatment another therapist sooner the better I you find the strength to do it Good luck and bless Dear Ann Landers: 16 year old daughter fallen for a boy we do not approve of The young Monday and riday's 12:30 to 6:00 Tuesday Wednesday Thursday 12:30 to 8:30 Saturday 1 2:00 to 3:00 Two
